Month of July

  July has been such a wonderful month, and I’ve been really loving my new program! In our life skills sessions, I learned some cool facts about sun safety, and I even used my Talklink to answer questions during our quiz. I also walked around the center to watch a demonstration on how to clean windows. I learned how to tie shoelaces today. I really enjoyed watching a YouTube tutorial and practicing the steps on a pair of shoes. Getting out into the community is always a highlight for me since I love exploring and getting fresh air. I was lucky enough to visit the historic village for a nice stroll along the boardwalk and explored the fairy gardens. I’ve also spent quite a bit of time at the Greerton Library lately. My favorite part was reading a book called Purple Crayon , which kept me super engaged. Month of June

  Throughout the month of June, I have enjoyed participating in a variety of activities during my sessions. In my sensory sessions, I explored many virtual train rides, from travelling through the African safari and seeing meerkats, lions, and elephants, to taking a train ride through a land of dinosaurs. I have also been using my TalkLink in literacy sessions, where I enjoy copying words from flashcards and placing them onto the Scrabble board. In Girls Group, I love taking time to unwind by listening to nursery rhymes, enjoying story time, and being pampered with shoulder massages. For my outings, I have been getting some fresh air and exercise by going for walks at Falkner Reserve and the Kopurererua Valley Walkway. I also enjoyed visiting the Wilrose Centre to watch my friends perform waiata and attending story time at the Greerton Library. Month of May

Throughout the month of May, I became more involved in activities with my friends and enjoyed exploring a wide range of new experiences. One of the highlights was learning about different styles of music and cultural dance from across the Pacific Islands and beyond. I discovered how each culture expresses itself uniquely through movement and rhythm, such as the fast-paced drumming and energetic dancing of the Cook Islands compared to the slower, more graceful style of Tahitian music and dance. I also stepped into the exciting world of K-pop, where I enjoyed the upbeat music, energetic choreography, and vibrant atmosphere. During another session, I practiced my box step dance in preparation for our upcoming ball. I enjoyed it and had a big smile on my face. I loved spending time in my Girls group session, where we relaxed together with shoulder massages and hair brushing.
